Leonie Schoelen

Hi, I'm Leonie, just finishing up my Masters' in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, and will then temporarily move back to my native Germany. I would eventually like to work as a policy assistant with EU institutions or lobbyists in Brussels or with the German Development Agency (GTZ/GIZ). I've done internships with an MEP (Member of the European Parliament) and with NATO and I've been involved with (World) Model United Nations. I am genuinely interested in sub-Saharan Africa and structural and symbolic violence as well as social capital, all of which are topics of my dissertation. I have fieldworld experience in Northern Ireland, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Israel/Occupied Palestinian Territories. I have also travelled widely in Europe and beyond and I have volunteered abroad. Fun fact: I adore letters and postcards! My passion even got me to live in Australia for a year!
