Wyn Hou Nothing really meant at all. Just saying that at the time of the crime, pictures were probably still a rumor. How many kids and their parents are willing to admit they're trafficking illegal child pornography? I'm basically making the point that the RCMP probably had a VERY tough investigation and that this Anonymous hit job making it sound simple just to fuel the current rape culture theme in media, is much too silly. Where was Anonymous 2 years ago when they could've saved her life?
Wyn Hou No, these responses were expected. I believe the RCMP did a decent job, and I believe that the victim's parents hid and other CHILDREN hid information from the authorities at the time of the crime. How far would parents go to stop their kids from going to jail? Also 15 year old kids don't have the same moral judgement as adults, and in times of stress, they either don't say anything or lie to get out of trouble. The fact that you guys instantly hang the "rape culture" symbol on it does scare me. The real problems are pretty apparent: 15 year olds are drinking to the point of passing out Parents aren't doing enough to stop this from happening This is a bigger cultural problem and is more gray area than "RAPE CULTURE" stigma
Wyn Hou What is that exactly other than a blanket term made up by the media and how are we going to fix it? I highly doubt yelling it everywhere we go is going to fix any of this. Kids are still being hyper sexualized and under educated, and now they can get piss drunk at the ripe age of 15!
Wyn Hou I think everyone waited until she killed herself to revisit the issue. I'm sure the RCMP officers at the time did a decent job in finding evidence, and that evidence was neatly put away and hidden by the rapists parents, community, etc as damage control at the time to prevent 4 boys from being charged with such an accusation. It's easy to look in hindsight how evil the RCMP may have been, but you forget what the atmosphere was probably at the time of the crime. Now they she's dead, the evidence starts flowing out easily because people want retribution. At the time, she was just a 15 year old girl who drank illegally might I add, and "supposed" pictures were being sent around. That's just my take on things.
Wyn Hou There hasn't been massive mobilizations yet, it's all just posturing and moving missiles around. When they start seeing million man mobilizations and divisions of tanks moving around - meaning they are expending HUGE amounts of fuel and supplies which means they are ready to start a war, then people will get worried. But now, they aren't using any of that, it's just yelling and moving some objects around to get attention. The Chinese on the other hand are using this as an excuse to run exercises on its own military forces north of the Yalu and in the China Sea while the US has a "reason" to forward deploy more of its forces to surround China. The key players here aren't NK, it's China and the US.
Wyn Hou North Korea will probably attack soon. They've shut down the Kaesong Industrial Complex, believed by most South Koreans to be a key indication of whether NK is serious or not. This should be a good show of 1 sided warfare.
Wyn Hou If you watch CCTV, Chinese state news has actively been denoucing North Korea and labelling it was a little unreliable child of an ally nation. At the same time they continuously show the might of the Chinese military forces as they conduct drills and exercises. Wonder what's really going down here?
Wyn Hou Paleo diet works when you actually act like a paleolithic person. That is, you don't eat anything till 2pm since usually you have to hunt for your food, and then eat all meat and veges while during the day you're working out at least 3-4 hours. At the end of the day, the modern version for this is intermittent fasting and high protein low carb diet with lots of working out 6 days a week. Results are well demonstrated by people who do stick to this workout regime. But lets face, if you're going on the paleo diet to pretend to live in some natural utopia, the diet isn't your first problem.
Wyn Hou “They say a picture is worth 1000 words, and today’s design is more like 500 pictures,” Zhuo says. Each picture acts as a mini story. Seriously this idiom needs to stop in the design world. If picture is worth 1000 words then video is worth 24000 words a second. Where do we stop with this idiom then? 3D movies are worth 48000 words second and holographic movies are worth 1.3824 x 10^13 words per second. Clearly we have a winner here.
Wyn Hou One reason is that it costs nearly 300 million to film a blockbuster movie. With budgets like those you need something that is a garaunteed hit, and it's tough to jump right into a new idea unless it's already had a fanbase behind it.
Wyn Hou The old BB's browser was coded in the mid-90's and was rarely updated. The new BB browser is uses the same engine that powers iPhone, so the speed improvement is tremendous and should be as fast if not faster than the iPhone browser. BB10 also has some really innovative business oriented user experience additions under the umbrella term "BlackBerry Flow". This video summarizes a lot of the new features: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5KKQx04yD0 And with the keypad option on the X10, if you're a prosumer business user there's really no going back to touch screens.
Wyn Hou If I was Dictator of the United States, I would propose a complete ban on handguns, shotguns and institute a requirement to purchase an AR15 at the age of 18. This will ensure that every single citizen will have a semi-automatic long range rifle with 30 bullet magazine capability and various assortment of attachments. Kids in University will be comparing what kinds of cool scopes they have on their AR15, most freshman students will bring it to class since it's hip and cool whilst the upper years scorn at these hipsters. Movie theatres will have AR15 holders instead of cup holders. Weapon education will be part of the curriculum and target practice at the shooting range will be replacing phys-ed. I think this will solve all problems.
