Judith Ayers Great article, I have to disagree with your point, "The cost of college makes radical political or economic change impossibility. It effectively dulls the youth’s penchant for bringing drastic new ideas to the table." I think the cost of college being so high actually makes radical political and economic change an inevitability. Look at silicon valley, millennials especially, we have no option but to create our own businesses. With social media, the internet, and through other mediums, we're doing great things. We have nothing to lose!
Judith Ayers The individuals and groups listed as nominees are the commercial, pop end of the hip-hop spectrum. I really wouldn't qualify any of them as real hip-hop except Jay-Z and A$AP. Real hip-hop you won't find on the radio or nominated for much of anything, and they certainly talk about higher things than what you listed.
Judith Ayers Dude. You're badass, this is a great article.
Judith Ayers Oh, that's awesome, and congrats to you! Yeah the girls had a sit down last semester when they were incorporated and that was part of the reason I wanted to join was that they did rush COMPLETELY different (because it's one of the divine nine) then the other sorority's at my school (which are known for hazing). Not only that but they are, like yours, heavily community service oriented.
Judith Ayers If all goes as planned I will be one of the few joining my schools newest sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho! I'm excited about joining as well as what a great job you did on this article. Despite rushing I'm not a fan of sorority's in general so I like how you made a distinction between the different types of sorority's.
Judith Ayers Simply wonderful.
Judith Ayers Well I'm sorry you have avoided my articles in the past but I'm glad you were able to read this one! While I certainly agree with him on many issues and came to the "liberty" movement through his campaign like many others, I hardly follow him slavishly. Some do, but the majority of young people in this movement do not. His campaign has been a platform to project our ideas and to get others thinking about what liberty and freedom REALLY look like.
Judith Ayers I really don't see how because I said that the state is a bad idea that means Ron Paul 2012? I support him but have not voted for him. States, by definition, are antithetical to human rights and freedom. While the problems certainly wouldn't disappear they would be greatly alleviated. So if those issues are rooted in human nature why would we have a bunch of human beings be put in control of everything to make sure those things don't happen?
Judith Ayers There is a massive difference in overthrowing a despotic government and the typical war that countries take part in today. They are for economic reasons, more concerned with poppy resources then how many children they're killing with drones. War does not protect the rights of minorities, the minorities are the ones that are is waged on. War is far worse than "bad".
Judith Ayers I am we is reference to a south African proverb: “There is an old African saying, “I am we.” If you met an African in ancient times and asked him who he was, he would reply, “I am we.”
Judith Ayers I surely do understand the whole point, just because I don't agree with it doesn't mean I don't understand it. How does the legislation count on my health? I think bigger than myself everyday I just never realized that questions about my individual health had become an issue for debate in a public forum.
Judith Ayers Economics in One Lesson, read it.
Judith Ayers I'm less than thrilled that my mother who supports my family by working over 40 hours a week is going to have be forced to buy a product. Obama is not financially helping poor families he is hurting them more than he knows.
Judith Ayers Great article but we're hardly celebrating, I'm busy thinking of ways that I can make extra money to pay higher taxes or insurance. This piece of legislation fails to take in account millions of outliers like myself. I rarely go to the doctor because I'm healthy enough I don't need to, and when I need a check up or doctor visit I visit a homeopathic doctor that insurance does not cover and I pay cash for. When I have emergencies I pay out of pocket at an urgent care. My one emergency room visit when I was 14 was paid for by my father. Individual health cannot be legislated, it will never be comprehensive enough. Not to mention this is a consumer issue, government is FORCING an INDIVIDUAL to buy something.
Judith Ayers Right and it teaches you where to go to look for information. So instead of asking your friends, not doing the assignment and feeling lost. You can accomplish the task because you know where to go, you feel much more confident in your abilities and are able to do more with less.
Judith Ayers The most common one is just "Oh, you were homeschooled? I never would have known/guessed!" haha Usually the questions come later. And yes, haters gonna hate.
Judith Ayers Haha my brother wore sweatpants a lot too! And I'm glad he had some friends!
Judith Ayers As far as accountability that differs on state, some are more strict like Pennsylvania. In Pa. you have to compile a portfolio with selections of your work and meet with an evaluator at the end of the year to go over your work so you can "move on" to the next "grade". Other states like Texas just require that you notify the school board that you are homeschooling.
Judith Ayers haha unfortunately I had to cut a lot of great ones for brevity's sake. Drake and Chris brown ONLY made the list because of the epic-ly awful/bitchiness/timeliness of it, that's for the record. I had KRS in there but subtracted him at the last minute, sorry to disappoint haha. You should write a rebuttal with the ones I missed!
Judith Ayers Excellent article!
Judith Ayers Yes to your list of rappers!
Judith Ayers That's the whole point of the article, showing that there is a strong foundation of libertarian feminists that have NOT used the state. I don't know what females you're hanging around, but there are plenty of individualist women out there who prescribe to libertarian ideals. No one is wanting to be liberated from all things "male," we are striving to be liberated from the state.
Judith Ayers Bambi? If you don't want to comment in a constructive manner please do not discuss.
Judith Ayers That's one of the points of this article, those issues ARE important and need to be addressed, because we see the solution outside of government doesn't mean those issues are any less important to us.
Judith Ayers We don't view them as weak or lazy we seem them as worse solutions for a bad problem. People who go to the government for help are not weak, lazy or stupid, they just haven't been given the proper tools, they don't know who else to go. My mission as well as other libertarians I've spoke to is to provide, and market those other options.
