Graham Dugas Ultimately empiricism, evidentialism, scientism etc. all fail as epistemological systems because they cannot answer questions regarding origins, purpose of life, unobservable things (soul/spirit/animation etc.). If you want to prove the existence of the soul, all you have to do is observe a corpse.
Graham Dugas The creationists have faith in an eternal creator. The big bangers unknowingly adopt a similar position of faith. By faith they believe in an eternal cosmos with pre-existing order, physical laws etc. It morphs from a singularity to its present form. So much for their explanation of origins.
Graham Dugas Big bangers have just as much faith as creationists. They presuppose order, gravity, the table of elements, time, light, electromagnetism, the eternal existence of matter etc. all within their theoretical "singularity" prior to the explosion. They claim to explain things but ultimately they fail.
Graham Dugas Your first paragraph is an expression of faith (not belief) in "evidentialism" as the only valid basis for knowledge or certainty. What evidence can you present to support your notion that a thing can only be known if it is supported by attesting evidence? Thus evidentialism itself is self-refuting.
Graham Dugas The problem with a "strong central government" is that it has been with us since the end of the War between the States. We've already tried that route... like where it has brought us Chad?
