Chris Miles Please, Republicans, keep wasting time trying to repeal this law.
Chris Miles That's a good point ... but I wonder if he is unintentionally being an idiot. Wasn't there a similar story a few years ago when some girls were giving H&M clothes to the homeless? Isn't this kind of the same thing? Or is it not about the charity, but the message behind it?
Chris Miles Thanks, Terrill.
Chris Miles My comment was for Terrill. I thought your comment was great.
Chris Miles I don't really feel like that's a useful comment. More, it's an attack on this article. Thanks for sharing, but I'd keep comments productive, please.
Chris Miles That's fair. Thanks much for the feedback here. We'll definitely consider this and continue to strive to add smart, interesting multimedia.
Chris Miles I don't agree with you, but that's a great point. Mic'd.
Chris Miles Well there was the Fort Hood shooting ... that was pretty major. Also, if we empower criminals to carry weapons, won't they be more prone to carry out more attacks? I would think so.
Chris Miles Thanks much for the feedback, Dave. For clarification, pundits are able to upload their own photos, but often times fail to do so when submitting articles. At that point it is up to the editorial staff to find appropriate photos. We try and find photos that mesh with the tone of the article. I don't find any issues with the photos posted in this piece, especially when relating to the tone of the piece.
Chris Miles They are.
Chris Miles A child knowing how to use a gun safely and appropriately is the same as a child knowing how to drive safely on the interstate.
Chris Miles There's also the Federal Assault Weapons Ban (1994).
Chris Miles Well played.
Chris Miles Also -- something which John's great article didn't address -- what if the lower gun deaths are due to stricter gun control measures? Some of the nation's biggest gun control legislation has occurred within the 1993-present timeframe John mentions. (drops the mic, walks out of the room).
Chris Miles Right. That's massively beyond the point of John's amazing article, but thanks.
Chris Miles I'd say that John only pointing out that gun deaths are down -- which is great -- is leaving out the idea that major gun deaths still occur (I hate to use what some people call "tired" examples of Sandy Hook, Aurora, and Chicago, but, those three examples are perfect examples of the flip side of the coin). Gun deaths aren't zero (which in itself might be impossible), which would be something I would want to add, personally. There seems to be a sort of tone of vindication in John's article ... almost (as I personally read it) like clearly-gun-deaths-aren't-SUCH-a-big-deal-as-everyone-would-have-you-believe. The problem still persists, no matter how much the data shows it has dropped. Also (John never points this out) but what if gun control itself (especially in states like NY) is a cause for this drop in gun deaths .....
Chris Miles I mean, I don't know. Why didn't they go back to the 1800's, right? It's still up over three straight years ....
Chris Miles Excellent article. But I wonder if it only gives half the story. Vicious gun crimes, high-profile shootings, and gun deaths are still occurring, so these stats only highlight that there is less of a bad thing going on. Non-fatal gun injuries and assault are up, their highest point since 2008. http://factcheck.org/2012/12/gun-rhetoric-vs-gun-facts/
Chris Miles #7. Amazing.

Chris Miles Serious? None of this is anything close to a grievous error. If anything, you're mocking a solid writer from out of the blue. I respect your comments, but find this to be over the top.
Chris Miles I'm confused. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that paragraph.
Chris Miles Love it. Added it to the story.
Chris Miles Major editing fail. We've corrected. Apologies.
