Siv Cheruvu I think your analysis on not raising the minimum wage is sound but I disagree on the solution. I don't think moving back to a gold standard-esque model really fixes the problem at all. Its a pretty large assumption that switching back to the gold standard would substantially reduce price inflation since it also assumes that gold will be a sound investment and only increase in value for years to come. Having such a fix on monetary policy by going back to a gold standard like model doesn't seem very sustainable to me.
Siv Cheruvu There's a thin line between controversial and offensive. The most controversial voices definitely need publication. If articles are blatantly intended to offend and not meant to spark discussion through its controversial points, we should be allowed to flag them.
Siv Cheruvu Thanks for your point Gary. Christianity/ faith on its face are pretty well received as I have experienced. However, I feel though if someone was to write an article on their perspective of homosexuality and justified it through a comprehensive study of the Bible it wouldn't go through. It doesn't matter how certain articles are received in the comments. You don't write articles to get good comments. I'msaying that I have not seen as many articles on social issues or other sensitive topics for people justifying their positions through a Christian or other religious lens. Maybe I'm jumping the gun and saying that they have not made it through the editorial process when, in fact, no one has submitted them.

Siv Cheruvu If there's one thing that needs to be improved here at PM its a double standard when its comes to religion articles. I feel if an article was written opposed to homosexuality or any practice for that matter using biblical versus as support it would not pass the editorial process. Yet articles like these that seem like its intention is to offend as opposed to inform are allowed to go through. I'd like to see an article on an Evangelical's viewpoint of homosexuality. If there are any that that I missed, post them here and I'll retract my comment! Imo, regardless of your viewpoint, there should not be bias in the publication of these articles. But if the article's content is perceived as offensive, we should be able to flag them as well
Siv Cheruvu Learn something new everyday! Good for Angelina! How much does this procedure cost though? Would an average person looking to avoid breast cancer able to afford it?
Siv Cheruvu Hooray Chelsea! Glad to have you on board! (Fyi to fellow PM users, Chelsea is my neighbor!)
Siv Cheruvu This does a good job of pointing out the fatal flaw in Warren's proposal. My bigger question is though, how exactly can the federal government address the rising cost of education to begin with? What's your take on that?
Siv Cheruvu I think the doomsday scenarios of an EU failure are really overblown. Way too many countries benefit from it to want to leave. Yes, if Spain and Italy require bailouts it will be difficult but it wont lead to the failure of the union. The intricacies of the institutions it has whether you're talking about the courts, the parliament, the commission, or the banks have made it impossible for the whole union to collapse. Dropping the Euro will cause much greater financial calamity than keeping it.
Siv Cheruvu I think you are over exaggerating the political prowess of UKIP. Yes there is a strong eurosceptic presence in the UK that UKIP has taken advantage of by putting forth a popular nationalist argument against the supranational institution that is the EU. However, I don't think the Brexit will actually happen. With the benefits of free trade and coupled with the British rebate, the UK really only gains from its membership. As long as they don't join the Euro, the UK's control over its monetary policy keeps it largely financially independent of Europe. Overall, I think the benefits are too high for the UK to leave. Its a great deal for it to keep its currency and still have access to the largest market in the world for free.
Siv Cheruvu Mr. Preibus, Thank you for your contribution to Policymic! My question is how will the GOP end this millennial cynicism and appeal to this generation? What is the GOP's plan to bring "Morning in America" and promote the values and beliefs of conservative leadership to millennials?
Siv Cheruvu Uh... how many lifelines did they give you? According to your observations, ask the audience would have led to you all the wrong answers. Anyways, congrats on becoming a citizen! Now go out and vote... or something.
Siv Cheruvu "To Democrats, environmentally-friendly light bulbs, which last about 9,000 hours longer than traditional bulbs, are a good in and of themselves, a sign of our inevitable progress towards a greener, more rational society." Why does wanting greener products make one more rational? Its perfectly rational to make either choice. All that matters is what your priorities/ preferences are. In the end the study is interesting, but not really surprising.
Siv Cheruvu In 2011, Tebow had the highest QBR during the last 7 minutes of the 4th quarter of any QB in the league. He gets it done in the clutch. http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/34294/broncos-more-than-tebow-down-stretch
Siv Cheruvu The Jags owner said he was open to the possibility of Tebow, and ultimately the owner calls the shots. On top of that, no one would want Tebow now after he was forced to warm the bench for a year. The Jets should have at least given him the fair shot he deserved, and that's where they failed.
Siv Cheruvu Well lets be clear, the Supreme Court did not "install" President Bush into office. Even if the court made a mistake by taking the case, even if they went through with the recount Bush would have still won: http://www.factcheck.org/2008/01/the-florida-recount-of-2000/ Simultaneously it would have been a huge violation of equal protection had the courts went through with the recount when the validity of some of the butterfly ballots were in question. Either way we would have ended up with the same result.
Siv Cheruvu In a way Christie is going along with what most Republican governors have wanted. They just don't want the federal government to be involved in regulating firearms. Likewise, Christie didn't push for a federal solution but rather pursued gun control within the confines of his own state as every other governor in the country has the ability to do. This position can be defended pretty easily to the rest of the Republican faithful in my opinion.
Siv Cheruvu Donald Glover as Static Shock. I would LOVE to see that. Its perfect!
Siv Cheruvu I love how this dinner is meant for the media, but the attendees end up being tons of Hollywood A-listers. I guess humor appeals to everyone!
Siv Cheruvu Honestly, I'd rather t.v pundits blatantly express their opinions rather than present biassed information under the guise of being impartial. At least we as the viewers are getting a look at what really happens when politicians are talking to/ or at each other. Besides if you are looking for more intellectual commentary, read political journals or more print based news. That's where you will get your fix.
Siv Cheruvu Thank you for writing this Senator. I think its very important to stand up to these issues of sexual assault so that perpetrators are held up to the full force of the justice system. My question for you is how does sexual assault in which a man is the victim play into this equation? From your experience as district Attorney or otherwise, are sexual assault cases that involve a male victim less likely to be taken up on the docket? What needs to change in the system so that women and men that are victims of sexual assault can be assured that justice will be served?
Siv Cheruvu Yes of course you do have Pakistani coaches, umpires, and commentators. But you don't have Pakistani cricketers playing! Ultimately that is causing the fans to suffer from these political battles. As for Azhar Mahmood he may still be eligible to play for Pakistan, but his British citizenship is what got him into the IPL, so he is in no way an exception.
Siv Cheruvu Azhar Mahmood is only allowed to play because of being a British Subject. If he was only a Pakistani he would not be in the league.
Siv Cheruvu Very interesting case. Since the "find my iPhone" app is publicly available, I wonder if the location settings can be used as the basis of a warrant if your iPhone is stolen. I feel that this case would have implications for instances like the use of the "find my iPhone" app. Looking forward to see how this case will be ruled.
Siv Cheruvu I think it would be even more interesting to see if the movie presents part of the counter narrative of Jackie Robinson. The narrative in which Jackie Robinson's integration resulted in the eventual destruction of the negro leagues and the demise of black ownership of baseball teams. Or how Jackie Robinson was not nearly the best of the Negro League players and how so many others could have dominated in the MLB if they got a shot. This movie will present the narrative that we all know. The breakthrough of the black athlete into professional sports and onto equal footing with white players. If Helgeland brings in part of the counter narrative, I think that would make for a truly captivating film.
