Syra Sharif Watch the marketing and cameras do their magic to make it look like none of that even exists. It's sad, but it's a reality and the state of what Sochi is is obviously not going to change anytime soon.
Syra Sharif This is dumb, the boy was punished for a pointless reason. For carrying a purse, which may seem feminine to some but also may hint at some gender discrimination in the area (towards women, but also homosexuals).
Syra Sharif My mom was talking about this the other day, and I was like "what is that?" but forgot to look it up myself. Thanks for this and yeah you're right, heroes do come from everywhere. Props to Marvel for the comic.
Syra Sharif Awesome. When Canadian astronaut Col. Chris Hadfield was in space this last Spring and Summer, he sent out all these amazing shots of earth from space. I just think pictures like these can be peaceful sometimes. Here are some: http://colchrishadfield.tumblr.com/archive/2013/5
Syra Sharif Five stars all around from a former English major here. Agree on all points (except, maybe #3 since I don't really go to cocktail parties :/ ) It seems too many people love science and forget about the arts and literature.
Syra Sharif I feel you, there always seems to be a bit of a need to try something new. Like we already dipped our dipped our toes in something we like, now we want to just take a dive into the pool. I myself am thinking about going into teaching because I like to teach and learn. It's hard to know what you want to do.
Syra Sharif You're absolutely right, PolicyMic is changing the way we think about journalism. I've been writing here for over a year now and while I don't write all the time, I make time to read and share the articles because they are usually something interesting or thought provoking. Good article, best to you.
Syra Sharif This song needs to die. I think it's sorta getting played out now which is good since I haven't heard it for like a week or so on the radio. However, it is catchy and I think it's just that. Catchy. It's mainstream and soon it won't even matter, if you ask me.
Syra Sharif My school didn't have a gym, so you're lucky for that. I also didn't live in a dorm, but I did have an apartment for awhile. Loved the school newspaper the best (probably because I was on it, but thats irrelevant).
Syra Sharif I agree, but I also think interns should get the chance to be paid if possible. Some larger companies can surely afford to pay interns a stipend of some sort. At the same time though, I get that it can't always be that way and sometimes one must sacrifice money for experience.
