Seamus Light And if you've worked in any entry-level position for a company, you'll quickly learn that the American people aren't exactly deserving of one's respect. They're the same people who sat in the Roman colloseums, screaming for bread and circuses.
Seamus Light That's the plan, John. People say capitalism is focused too much on consuming, but statism is openly parasitical. If it kills one host, it'll move onto another.
Seamus Light Haha, damn it, Ben...
Seamus Light The next piece of legislation would be to outlaw farm equipment.
Seamus Light The number of guns per 100 people doesn't tell us much about the rate of violence. Rwanda only has about 0.06 guns per 100 people, and they carried out a successful genocide.
Seamus Light We love Big Brother!
Seamus Light "How did we get here? Obama added more debt in 3 years and 2 months than George W. Bush did in 8 year" - Government spending has been climbing steadily, mostly in entitlements and military, for over a century. The problem of expansive government goes farther back than just the last few administrations. "Many conservatives were never happy with the spending or the wars and did not believe they reflected the core values of the party" - Then why didn't they do anything about it? Why did your party systematically expel the more libertarian members? Why is your party controlled by neocons who appeal to warmongers and dominionist Christians? The GOP has no core values. Or if they do, they are the same values as the Democrats: achieving power through violence and bribery. And I never suggested the Democrats were a good alternative. The Left and Right are equally bad.
Seamus Light Drones are like guns. I'm not so much worried by the tool itself as I am some of the people who possess them. That's why I'm of the position that governments should not have drones. But since government will simply take what it wants from manufacturers, or pay using stolen money or credit cards, the only real option is to abolish the state.
Seamus Light The GOP already abandoned whatever principles they claimed to have had. How do you think we got here in the first place? If the Republicans were serious about reducing spending, they wouldn't have sidelined libertarians, they wouldn't have pussyfooted around entitlements, and they wouldn't have supported all the pointless wars. All they're left with is a bunch of ineffectual partisan hacks like Boehner and the Mitt Romneys of the world, who are just power seekers clinging to a failing strategy. The Democrats have essentially become this country's sole party, since they've systematically neutered the mainstream GOP, and turned it into their whipping boy for when the people demand an answer to why their lives are getting worse.
Seamus Light There was nothing libertarian about George H.W. Bush. The GOP kicked out its Goldwater Republicans in the 1970's, and Bush I was just another military industrialist neocon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCQa4iFmkW4
Seamus Light That's an idea that I generally support (unless we're talking about that awful Golden Age of the Sith era.) They should be making a movie about bounty hunters and smugglers and aliens who aren't contemptible CG jesters, and set it right around or during the Original Trilogy. Because there's no point in seeing the past or future, since the SW universe is the only universe where technology never advances, and nothing is ever accomplished.
Seamus Light Does it even matter anymore? Haven't fans been kicked enough times by this point that they don't even feel it? I mean, seriously, how could this franchise get any worse? We've already seen the awful forced love scenes between personality-less characters. We've seen a barrage of mindless, busy visuals which are not impressive in the least, considering the equal advances of videogame graphics. We've seen the racist cartoon animal filler designed for mentally subnormal toddlers. We've seen the utter exploitation and squeezing of every last goddamn nickel from this bloated, cancer-ridden universe. And we've even seen our original films purposely destroyed by a fat, egomaniacal hack director. Whatever Disney does, it won't matter. The masochistic fanboys will go in for another beating, and the rest of us will either seek out new frontiers, or simply wait for the torrents to start popping up.
Seamus Light I find it hilarious when statists try to bash the NRA and the politicians who are receptive to them, just for lobbying. You're telling me that you expect people who support the right to self defense to just stand there while you try and disarm them? The reason the NRA is out there lobbying is because people like yourself are constantly trying to push legislation which infringes upon property rights! Also, your criticism of Ron Paul doesn't make much sense. The man received contributions from the NRA because he had a track record of being pro-gun.... and therefore his statement that we don't need armed police officers in schools is invalid? Oy, these people...
Seamus Light Carpet bombing: "a large aerial bombing done in a progressive manner to inflict damage in every part of a selected area of land" I'd call an aerial bombing which destroys a wedding ceremony, and kills most if not all of its attendants, "terrorist" suspect or not, anything but precise.
Seamus Light The Obama administration is too busy carpet bombing Pakistani children to look into your concern.
Seamus Light If you want to get the WBC away from your funerals, privatize cemeteries and the roads they're built near. Simply allow landowners to bar access to their property to the WBC.
Seamus Light Stealing and accumulating wealth is one of the most basic functions of government. It's a bipartisan initiative.
Seamus Light Ho ho ho. I've been told I resemble a young Kris Kringle. http://heraldnews.suntimes.com/csp/cms/sites/dt.common.streams.StreamServer.cls?STREAMOID=nidCy_iwnQVrVXfgEhtJOc$daE2N3K4ZzOUsqbU5sYvLgaRqGt2ikkeASLATAqlBWCsjLu883Ygn4B49Lvm9bPe2QeMKQdVeZmXF$9l$4uCZ8QDXhaHEp3rvzXRJFdy0KqPHLoMevcTLo3h8xh70Y6N_U_CryOsw6FTOdKL_jpQ-&CONTENTTYPE=image/jpeg
Seamus Light Cooper, Plus why would you buy an expensive RPG when you could just make a fertilizer bomb? If people are desperate to kill, then they'll generally make do with what's availiable. If you're crazy, then you've got all the time in the world to figure out how to kill people with gardening supplies.
Seamus Light Neither - he's a member of the National Socialists. He's a German who delivers gifts to all the good little European children who submit to authority figures. And delivers nothing to the Jews, Asians, or anyone outside the North Atlantic cultural sphere.
Seamus Light Crackdown on gun trafficking? Oh, like the crackdown on illegal drug trafficking? I'm sure it'll be a stellar success. Also, notice how in your second paragraph, when you list all of the authoritarian police-state legislation that none of the branches have any desire to repeal, that you've essentially made the case for widespread gun ownership.
Seamus Light I'm actually fine with this petition. The first reason being that Piers Morgan is incredibly annoying, and I wouldn't mind seeing him shipped off the continent. But second, let's think about what this symbolizes. Piers Morgan is a statist who uses his position in the media to propagandize the dull masses into supporting causes which make private citizens weaker, and the state stronger. So what a fitting punishment would it be for the powers of the state to interfere with his life! Obviously, the petition won't do anything, considering how the Executive has no obligation nor desire to fulfill the requests of anyone; but if it were to succeed, it'd be poetic.
Seamus Light What does it say about this country when Ice T is making better logical and philosophical arguments than Congress and the media?
Seamus Light "we won't see eye-to-eye on this issue (especially when it comes to 'liberties')" - And that's the greatest failure of all statists - the inability to grasp self-ownership. If you aren't operating on these first principles, you start seeing these weird, contradictory ideologies you espouse. If you don't realize the origin of rights, then you've trapped yourself in this statist box. "a good government is not a police state" - Unfortunately, no government is good because government, by definition, is a monopoly of coercive force which survives on stealing. #1: Yes, people should be allowed to own any object they peaceably acquire, including military hardware. No inanimate object can impede a person's liberties - only the actions of another individual. #3: Sure, if you don't want your business to be a soft target.
Seamus Light I wouldn't bother with trying to compromise with the anti-gun people. There's a logical disconnect at the core of it all that one can't really plaster over.
