Ron Paul Oregon District Convention: LIVE Supporters Aiming for Major Upset

Ron Paul supporters will come out in full force on Saturday for the Oregon District Covention, where they are hoping for a major upset against Mitt Romney in order to secure more delegates for Paul at the GOP Convention in Tampa in August.

Ron Paul Nation is calling on grassroots leaders across the state to mobilize supporters and ensure that supporters kick into full gear for the weekend District Convention.

In Oregon, delegats to the five District Conventions will elect the state's National Convention Delegates. There will be four ballots in each congressional district (1 for each of the 3 congressional districts) and 1 for the statewide at-large delegates. (Read the full by-laws here).

The process will work as follows: Each person selected as a delegate will sign a pledge to vote at the National Convention for the candidate he/she favors, until that candidate is 1) nominated; 2) receives less than 35% of the votes for nomination at the convention' 3) releases the delegate from the pledge; or 4) until two convention nominating ballots have been taken. Here are more details of the nomination process.

Paul has a small but dedicated following in Oregon, where he lost to Mitt Romney in the state primary in May by a wide margin. His supporters have developed a strong grassroots presence on Facebook and Twitter.

His supporters are hoping to continue on the recent wave of momentum they've picked up in the state delegate nomination process and bring that success to the West Coast. Paul has recently scored a major victory in Iowa, where he won 21 of 25 delegates elected. Supporters are employing a grassroots delegate strategy to foil Mitt Romney and make a splash at the GOP Convention in Tampa.
