As more details emerge from the Trayvon Martin shooting, it is becoming increasingly clear that the police have failed to bring George Zimmerman to justice. Trayvon Martin, a 17-year old African-American teenager carrying Skittles, was chased, confronted, then fatally shot in Sanford, Florida late last month by Zimmerman, a 28-year-old Latino college student who was the captain of the neighborhood watch. After initial questioning, Zimmerman was released without charges.

Now, details are emerging that Zimmerman called Trayvon Martin a “Fu*king Co*n” on the initial 911 call. Although the role of Trayvon’s race has been debated up until now, the recording proves that Zimmerman’s thought process was somewhat influenced by race.

Albeit not conclusive evidence, the rest of the tapes released by the police lead us to believe that Zimmerman committed a hate crime and did not act in self-defense. Listen here.

“You can hear a faint voice cry “help.” You can hear the booming sound of a gunshot.

You can hear the alleged shooter tell a radio dispatcher, minutes earlier, that he had spotted “a real suspicious guy” who “looks like he’s up to no good,” then add, “These assholes, they always get away.”

The dispatcher asks: “Are you following him?”

“Yeah.”

“OK, we don’t need you to do that,” the dispatcher says.”
