Young voters in Michigan support Rick Santorum.
That's according to the latest PPP poll published today. 42% of voters between the ages of 18 and 45 who plan on voting in today's Republican primaries support Rick Santorum compared to only 25% who support Mitt Romney. 51% of voters over the age of 65 years old support Mitt Romney. The data below shows that contrary to popular opinion, many younger voters care more about social issues than economic ones in today's pimaries.

How is this possible? I thought young people would be turned off by Satorum's anti-birth control stance? Actually, the 18 - 45 years olds polled care much more about social issues than economic issues. 40% said they were more concerned with social issues, compared to 33% that said economic issues.

Which may be one of the reasons young voters in Michigan have a very unfavorable view of Romney. 46% see him unfavoribly compared to only 26% that see him favoribly.

Last interesting question: What about those liberals? According to the poll, 4% of respondents considered themsevles very liberal AND planned on voting today. Of those respondents, 38% planned to vote for Ron Paul while 34% planned on voting for Santorum. If this comes down to the wire, that 1.5% of voters could make a difference.

Note on poll sample size & methodology: The poll was conducted with 922 Respondents who planned on voting in today's primaries. 34% of the respondents were between the ages of 18 and 45 years old (although I suspect they probably skewed towards the older side of the spectrum). The margin for error was +/ 3.2%.
