In a stunning tribute to jazz pianist and legend Dave Brubeck, three accomplished jazz musicians delivered a short performance at the Grammy Awards 2013 paying homage to Brubeck. Pianist Chick Corea, saxophonist Kenny Garrett, and bass player Stanley Clarke performed two of Dave Brubeck's most famous tunes, including "Take Five" to pay tribute to the pianist.
The move was a nice change for the otherwise pop music-heavy evening, and a nice gesture for Brubeck's legacy. Brubeck died in December, and he is considered one of the most famous jazz pianists of all time. He wrote jazz standards like "In Your Own Sweet Way" and "The Duke" and played alongside alto saxophonist Paul Desmond for "Take Five."
As a jazz musician, this was the highlight of the entire Grammys for me.
