Students from more than 90 colleges walked out of class at 4:30pm EST today in a national student protest organized by Occupy Colleges in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street.
Occupy Colleges, a grassroots movement working in solidarity with OWS has also organized more than half a million young people to sign a petition supporting the OWS movement.
The target of millenials’ frustration is the rising price of college tuition and the dismal job market for recent grads. According to the group’s Facebook page, “more and more high school students are foregoing a college education because their families can no longer afford it. So many more are graduating with inconceivable amounts of debt and stepping into the worst job market in decades.”
The group is also rallying against “unpaid internships that go no where and soon can’t pay college loans.”
