Bridget Mary McCormack, a candidate for the Michigan Supreme Court, just won her election. And it’s not even November yet.
How?
She produced easily the greatest campaign ad … in the history of campaign ads.
Most of the former cast members of Aaron Sorkin's critically acclaimed and wildly popular political drama The West Wing got back together to film a very special endorsement of the candidate — who, as Gawker reports, is also the sister of actress Mary McCormack, better known as Deputy National Security Adviser Kate Harper from the show's final three seasons.
Mlive has the details on how the deal went down:
Mary McCormack suggested the idea after Bridget told her the biggest problem in the race is the drop-off in voter participation.
"It sort of snowballed and all of sudden Martin Sheen signed up and I was like 'Whoa,'" Bridget McCormack said in an interview.
She said while she would be thrilled if people vote for her after seeing the video, the intent also is to get more people voting in high court elections in general regardless of their political leanings. Her campaign is hoping the video goes viral online.
And viral it will go, Bridget. And congratulations on winning your election.
Does anyone else in that race stand a chance now?
No.
Game over.
