Write For PolicyMic

PolicyMic is the fastest-growing news and discussion platform powered by millennials. With writers in more than 100 countries, PolicyMic is a global news platform for high-quality analysis and an incredibly engaged community of smart millennials.

We are always looking for remote writers who are passionate about the issues shaping the lives of young people. PolicyMic teaches the skills you'll need to contribute to a national discussion. You’ll learn how to write news for an online audience, how to make a story go viral, and how to be the top search result on Google, all while engaging in meaningful debate.

PolicyMic Writers

PolicyMic features remote writers from all industry professions and employment levels. We are flexible in accommodating busy schedules, but require that our writers set their availability prior to beginning their PolicyMic tenure. Writers will be able to review edits made to their submissions and PolicyMic editors will provide writers with constructive comments on every piece they submit. While writers are on-call, editors are in constant contact, providing them with the guidance necessary to fulfill PolicyMic's mission and enhance their writing skills.

Writers who complete 16 on-call articles in a four-week span are eligible to apply for a full-time paid internship with PolicyMic.

University students

PolicyMic provides remote internship opportunities to college students who seek a rigorous writing education program. The length of the internship depends on the requirements of the intern’s university or department — typically 14 about weeks. During working hours, you will work closely with the editorial team, writing articles based on areas of your interest and expertise.

Eligibility

PolicyMic writing opportunities are  available to talented writers looking to hone their new media writing skills while burnishing their résumé. As part of the application process, applicants must provide a writing sample to demonstrate that they possess a level of proficiency appropriate to PolicyMic’s standards. (Samples should be ~500 words on some news event the applicant has written about.)

To apply: Please send an email to Caira Conner (caira@policymic.com) that contains the following:

1. Cover letter
2. Résumé
3. Writing sample that is ~500 words on a current event.
