As the speculation continues as to which actor and actress will star in the upcoming film adaptation of the book 50 Shades of Grey, could Hollywood's newest celebrity marriage factor into the debate about who should play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the movie? Over the weekend, Hollywood hotties Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively got married in a secret ceremony which allegedly took place at the mansion featured in the hit movie The Notebook. Now that the pair is married, could they be the right fit to star as the sexy duo in 50 Shades of Grey?
Admittedly, at this point, this is pure speculation, and neither has ever admitted to an interest in starring in the movie. However, Reynolds has frequently been mentioned as one of the fan favorites to play Christian Grey, and Lively has been called an "obvious choice" for the leading female role in the movie.
The newlyweds may not be interested in such a role, however, because they've been very secret about their relationship until now. The "Gossip Girl" actress and her husband surprised the media with their marriage over the weekend, and they've largely kept their relationship out of the public eye. This is the first marriage for Lively, 25, while Reynolds, who is 10 years older, was married to Scarlett Johansson for two years, but they divorced in 2010. The pair starred together in the movie "The Green Lantern."
All summer long, Hollywood insiders have been putting forth possible duos to star and Christian and Ana, which has been fun for fans (who have even gone so far as to create mock trailers for the movie featuring their preferred actors and actresses). For weeks, one of the leaders in the battle for the roles was pair Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart, but the cheating scandal which ruined their relationship seems to have ruined that possibility. Having that kind of public scrutiny and negative press surrounding the role would probably not be something that director EL James would be interested in. However, the idea of having an existing couple star in the movie is appealing, because it will undoubtedly feature intimate sex scenes, which would be more authentic for an existing couple.
Enter Lively and Reynolds. The duo has no negative baggage associated with their name, so they suddenly may be the front-runners for the role. We won't know more until author EL James settles on a director for the film, and a screenwriter, but until then, put Lively and Reynolds in the conversation.
