iPhone 5 Release Date iOS6 and What Features to Expect

Rumors continue to mount over when the iPhone 5 will be released, and September 12 is currently the rumored release date for the newest Apple product. The company is expected to introduce the latest version of the smartphone, along with potentially a new iPad, when they reveal their iOS6 operating system to the world.

As iPhone 5 release rumors continue to mount, what can we expect in the new iPhone product?

1) Design and Appearance

All leaks suggest that the phone will come in a unibody aluminum design, with a two-tone rear case. The initial schematics suggest that the device will be slightly larger than previous models, with a 4-inch screen. See the alleged schematic above.

2) Display

The new iPhone will be the first to adopt a 16:9 aspect ratio, and it will undoubtedly feature retina level resolutions. It may also adopt Sharp's IGZO technology allowing for improved display performance and better battery life.

3) iOS 6

The iPhone 5 will come loaded up with iOS 6, which will feature upgrades to existing apps like Safari, Siri and Mail, as well as native Facebook integration. It will also feature a new app, Passport, which will serve as the equivalent to a digital wallet.

4) YouTube

Apple is likely to not include certain apps that were part of previous editions of the iPhone, including YouTube. Apple and Goolge seem to be distancing themselves when it comes to their products, since they are now considered competitors.

5) Release Date

Although the precise date of the launch is still uncertain, iMore has suggested that the iPhone 5 and the iPad Mini will both be announced on September 12th.
